Who We Are
My Jumbo Tasks ("we", "us") operates the My Jumbo Tasks platform — a global micro-task marketplace connecting posters and workers. This policy explains how we handle personal data when you use our website and services.
Data We Collect
Information you give us
- Account details from your Google sign-in (name, email, avatar)
- Email change verification codes (temporary)
- Task content you post or submit (titles, descriptions, proof links, screenshots)
- Payout details — PayPal email or M-Pesa phone — when you add a payout method
- Support messages you send through the contact form
Information collected automatically
- IP address, user-agent, and approximate region (used for fraud prevention and audit logs)
- Login session metadata (device, last-active timestamps)
- Cookies — see our Cookie Policy
Information from payment processors
When you pay for a task or receive a payout, our processors (PayPal, Safaricom Daraja for M-Pesa) share transaction identifiers and status with us. We never see or store full card numbers — those stay with the processor.
How We Use Your Data
- To run the marketplace — match posters with workers, hold escrow, release payouts
- To verify your identity and prevent fraud or abuse
- To send transactional emails (verification, task updates, payout confirmations)
- To send category-subscription notifications (you can unsubscribe any time)
- To respond to support requests
- To meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations
Lawful Basis (GDPR)
We process your data under the following lawful bases:
- Contract — to provide the platform you signed up for
- Legitimate interest — fraud prevention, security, audit logs, product improvement
- Consent — for category-subscription notifications and non-essential cookies
- Legal obligation — financial record-keeping, responding to lawful requests
Sharing
We do not sell your data. We share it only with:
- Payment processors (PayPal, Safaricom) — to settle transactions
- Email providers (transactional SMTP) — to deliver verification and notification emails
- Hosting and database infrastructure — to run the platform
- Other users where the platform requires it (your name and avatar appear on tasks you post or submit)
- Authorities when required by law
How Long We Keep Your Data
- Account profile — while your account is active, plus 30 days after deletion
- Task and submission records — 7 years for accounting and dispute history
- Audit logs — 2 years
- Email verification codes — until used, or 24 hours, whichever is sooner
- Payout method details — until you remove them
Your Rights
Under GDPR and similar laws, you have the right to:
- Access — download a copy of your data from Settings → Privacy
- Correct — update your email and payout details from your dashboard
- Delete — request account deletion from Settings → Privacy (some records are retained for accounting as above)
- Restrict or object — pause processing or opt out of marketing
- Portability — your export is a machine-readable JSON file
- Withdraw consent — for anything processed under consent
- Complain — to your local data protection authority
Security
We use TLS 1.3 in transit, hashed and signed session tokens, OAuth-only authentication (we never see your Google password), encrypted database backups, and audit logging on all admin actions. No system is perfect — if you spot a security issue, please email security@myjumbotasks.com.
International Transfers
Our infrastructure is hosted in EU and US data centres. When we transfer data outside your region we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards.
Children
My Jumbo Tasks is not intended for users under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has signed up, contact us so we can remove the account.
Changes
We'll post any material change here and notify active users by email. The "last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent change.
